NEW ANTI-FOULING ORDER FOR THE FIRST LNG POWERED PRINCESS SHIP

MES HAS SIGNED A NEW CONTRACT FOR THE FURNITURE OF A COMPLETE FOULING PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR 4 NEW LNG POWERED CRUISE SHIPS COMMISSIONED TO FINCANTIERI

MES and Fincantieri have shared almost 2 decades of collaboration in the development of our Ultrasonic Antifouling System for the cruise industry. Since then, cruise ships have been continuously upgraded in their electrical and mechanical systems in order to increase their  sustainability and achieve the functional and ecological standards required by the present maritime regulations, such as Imo and Solas.

In this generalized perspective of green technological development of the cruise industry, Princess Cruises, brand of Carnival Corporation & Plc, and Fincantieri, have signed in the past year a contract for the furniture of 2 (plus 2 options) Sphere-class ships to be dual-fuel powered primarily by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). LNG is the marine industry’s most environmentally friendly advanced fuel technology and is able to significantly reduce air emissions and marine Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) usage, and for that reason, has been researched for cruise applications in order to improve the overall sustainability of this industry.

Similarly, for the fouling protection of these newbuilds, Fincantieri have recently chosen MES s.r.l. Ultrasonic Antifouling systems, for their durability and performances, as well as for their eco-compatibility and sustainability.

We are deeply proud to be part of this innovative and sustainable project, due to the shared vision and values that we are promoting with the development of Ultrasonic technologies to daily reduce the impact of the cruise industry on our Planet.
